Introduction
This tablet PC is a quite strange one. It seems to be manufactured by a Chinese manufacturer called GBM for a number of resellers. Maybe one of them is EliteGroup. This one comes from Akhon, a Spanish seller.
What works, What does not
| Hardware Components | Status under Linux | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Transmeta Crusoe TM5800 | Works | Consider it being a Pentium II with MMX. |
| SiliconMotion SM720 Lynx3DM | Works | No 3D acceleration. |
| VIA Rhine II Ethernet | Works | No special considerations |
| AirVast wifi card | Works | Using ndiswrapper |
| VIA AC'97 Sound | Works | Using snd_via82xx module |
| SunPlus SPCA561 USB Webcam | Pending | Chipset is supported in GSPCAv1 package, but the IDs are not recognized. |
| VIA AC'97 Modem | Unknown | See Below |
| ITE LPC-based Flash Media Controller | Unsupported | No support on kernel. Smart Card, Memory Stick and MMC/SD readers. |
| Fujitsu MHT2040AT, 40Gb ATA/EIDE hard drive | Works | No special procedure required during installation |
| Waltrend/Elitegroup USB keyboard/touchpad combo | Works | No special procedure. I'll try to figure if the touchpad is a synaptics or compatible one. |
| AipTek USB Touchscreen | Works | Trying to figure how to calibrate it. |

How to get it all working
Processor: Transmeta Crusoe TM5800
Contrary to general believe, this processor is more than a simply Pentium MMX clone.
Use in all of your configurations as if it is a Pentium II, and remember to NOT USE SSE, as it is not supported by the Crusoe.
In kernel compilation you should select that it is a Transmeta Crusoe, and enable CPU frequency scaling. (I will add more on how to make it automatically change depending on AC Adapter status)

VGA controller: SiliconMotion SM720 Lynx3DM
You must put the following line in /etc/make.conf, and be sure that package xf86-video-siliconmotion is emerged.
| Code: |
VIDEO_CARDS="siliconmotion" |
Be in consideration that the LCD only supports 800x600 resolution. I've not tested external video output, but it should work. There is NO 3D acceleration with this chip, so forget about compiz and 3D games.
Ethernet LAN: VIA Rhine II
It is fully supported in the kernel, just I compile it with the kernel for commodity.

Wireless LAN: AirVast PRISM3 IEEE802.11b WM168 USB Module
It works perfectly using NDISWrapper. Take in hand the drivers CD-ROM that came with your computer an mount it, then do the following:
| Code: |
su emerge ndiswrapper ndiswrapper -i /mnt/cdrom/Wireless/Drivers/WinXP/AVWLPNIC.inf ndiswrapper -m update-modules modprobe ndiswrapper |
The if you do the following:
| Code: |
iwconfig |
You should get the following:
| Code: |
wlan0 IEEE 802.11b ESSID:off/any
Mode:Managed Frequency:2.462 GHz Access Point: 00:60:B3:F3:E0:00
Bit Rate=2 Mb/s
Encryption key:off
Link Quality:34/100 Signal level:-74 dBm Noise level:-96 dBm
Rx invalid nwid:0 Rx invalid crypt:0 Rx invalid frag:0
Tx excessive retries:0 Invalid misc:0 Missed beacon:0
|
And then you can configure it as any other Wireless network, as stated in Gentoo Handbook.
For having it configured at boot add the following line:
| File: /etc/modules.autoload.d/kernel-2.6 |
ndiswrapper |
Sound Card: Realtek ALC202 through VIA AC'97 Audio interface
Put this in make.conf and follow Gentoo Handbook ALSA HOWTO.
| Code: |
ALSA_CARDS="via82xx via82xx-modem" |
