Autotools:_Configuration_Names
The autotools suite uses configuration names to indicate the type of system to build for. The configuration name has four parts on which identify the cpu,manufacturer,kernel and operating system. For an IBM compatible personal computer, the configuration name is:
i586-pc-linux-gnu
