Email2fax

Introduction I have been toying with Asterisk and its many features for some time, but there seems to be little documentation on how to SEND faxes via E-Mail and Asterisk.

Please contribute to this page, I am by no means a pro.

Requirements

- Asterisk >= 1.2
- Working ZAP Channel for Fax Use
- zaptel >= 1.2
- Digium / Sangoma Card
- Working MTA that supports .forward
- ghostscript
- sendmail or Equivalent (/usr/bin/sendmail)
- tiff2ps
- ghostScript
- munpack

Installation Assuming that you have all dependencies correctly installed and working:

Download and untar email2fax ([1]) Modify the 'email2fax' file and customize the following variables:

FAXMAIL="From Name<fax@yourdomain.tld>'
CHANNEL="Zap/#
LOGFILE="/var/log/asterisk/faxlog
TMPDIR=/tmp/email2fax
MAXAGE=300
ASTERISKUSER=asterisk
OUTGOINGDIR=/var/spool/asterisk/outgoing

Move 'email2fax' to /usr/local/bin
