Allows you to change the location of your base directory.
This is commonly done when initially setting up Gentoo as mentioned in the Installing the Gentoo Base System portion of the Gentoo handbook.

# mkdir /mnt/gentoo/proc

# mount -t proc none /mnt/gentoo/proc

# mount -o bind /dev /mnt/gentoo/dev

>> Regenerating /etc/ld.so.cache...

# source /etc/profile

# export PS1="(chroot) $PS1"
