Fundraiser Status

The Gentoo Wiki Fundraiser

It has been over 10 months since our last fundraiser. In that time traffic has once again increased quite a bit. We have gone from 20,000 visitors daily to 32,000 daily. Traffic has also been increased on our other website. So we are having a fundraiser again to cover the cost of bandwidth as well as a few upgrades.

The development machine used for both www.gentoo-wiki.info and gentoo-portage.com broke down a couple of months ago and we would like to purchase hardware to repair it. If we raise enough we will get a new machine.

We are asking the users of the wiki to help raise at least $3,000. The fundraiser will run until October 15th 2006.

What will the funds be used for

• Bandwidth costs
• Hard drive to store backups from wikimasterv2 to squiddy
  • Backups are curently starting to exceed 20GB
• RAM upgrade for squiddy to 2GB
• A new development machine
