Apache has many modules available in Gentoo and can be used for many purposes such as tunneling, caching and security. The following tutorials and other articles will help you build the perfect Apache (version 2.x) for your needs.

Important Note

If you're looking for Apache 1 support, it has been removed from Gentoo.

The directory structure convention within apache first changed with version 2.0.54-r10. The latest version (as of 02/10/2007) is 2.0.59-r2. Directions for installing apache from scratch are found later in this document, but if you are interested in migrating an older version to follow the new directory structure convention you can follow the directions here http://www.gentoo.org/doc/en/apache-upgrading.xml , and here The major differences in this structure affecting your system are the changes to apache's configuration:
