Howto_cut_dvb_and_other_movies
This article is still a Stub. You can help Gentoo-Wiki by expanding it.
On this page I want to describe the way I use to cut my videos that I record from a DVB-C receiver. Basically it should work on any other DVB-Stream or even other video sources.
I used to edit my videos running Windows with Projectx, TMPGenc and Virtualdub(mod). As I have decided to do away with Windows Virtualdub wasn't available. TMPGenc runs fine in WINE, on my machine it even ran faster than on windows (for multiplexing the streams after demultiplexing them), but then I found AVIDEMUX.
"Avidemux is a free video editor designed for simple cutting, filtering and encoding tasks. It supports many file types, including AVI, DVD compatible MPEG files, MP4 and ASF, using a variety of codecs. Tasks can be automated using projects, job queue and powerful scripting capabilities."
The project is still masked so we have to unmask it first with echo "media-video/avidemux" >>/etc/portage/package.unmask and echo "media-video/avidemux" >>/etc/portage/package.keywords
then in order to install the latest version: emerge avidemux -va
