What is a Template?

A template is a piece of preformatted wikitext for you to use.

Note about using Equal Sign (=)

If you use the equals sign (=) inside a template MediaWiki will break the template's output. You will have to surround the equals sign (or the whole block of text, if you have several) with <nowiki> tags like so: {{Commandline|do something<nowiki>your text here = something</nowiki>}}.

Alternatively, you can escape the character by using &#61;. This is a technical limitation that you will have to keep in mind while using templates.
