Installing_OpenTTD

Here are the steps on howto install OpenTTD (Transport Tycoon Deluxe Clone).

Warning: You need the original Transport Tycoon Deluxe data files to run OpenTTD.

Install the openttd-environment

emerge -av games-simulation/openttd

Add yourself to the game-group

gpasswd -a USERNAME games

Note: You will need to log out and log back in for the group change to take effect.

Copy the game data and music files from the original Transport Tycoon Deluxe installation package (CDROM)

cp trg1r.grf trgcr.grf trghr.grf trgir.grf trgtr.grf sample.cat /usr/share/games/openttd/data
cp gm/ /usr/share/games/openttd -r

Start the game with midi-music by

openttd -m extmidi
