The Panasonic W5 Toughbook (or "Let's Note" in Japan) is an Intel Core Solo ultra-portable laptop with 6+ hours of battery life, an internal DVD+RW drive, shock-mounted hard disk, and integrated ipw3945 802.11a/b/g wireless.
- Summary:
- Semi-Ruggedized contstruction
- Intel Core Solo Processor U1400 has fully-supported frequency scaling via cpufreqd.
- Xorg works fine with the 12.1" 1024x768 XGA anti-glare TFT Active matrix Color LCD.
- The onboard Intel 945GMS video controller is capable of direct rendering in Linux but still produces some artifacts while using OpenGL.
- The SD Card and single PCMCIA slot are fully functional in Linux using the 2.6.19 kernel.
- Suspend to hard disk works with the suspend2 sources.
- Volume control and screen brightness control are possible via the pcc_acpi kernel modules.
- The alsa-driver package (hda-intel) runs the SigmaTel STAC9751 AC-97 v.2.1 Compliant sound card with software mixing for both the headphone jack and internal speakers.
- Wireless ipw3945 chip work well and are capable of wpa2, using wpa_supplicant.
- Modem not currently supported in Linux.
