How to setup a SanDisk sansa MP3 Player to work with Linux.
Set USB Mode
Before you plugin the sansa, change the usb setting to MSC. Do this by going to Settings -> USB Mode -> MSC
The sansa player has two usb modes, one for Windows Media, and one for standard usb connections. If you don't do this before you connect the sansa to your computer, it won't automatically mount as a removable drive.
That's about it, have fun!
Tag Troubles
If you are having trouble with mp3 files coming up as "Unknown Artist" despite showing up fine in your favorite media player on your favorite distro, try the steps in the "Retagging" section on this site. In summary, make sure you only have basic ID3v2.3 tags on the files going onto your Sansa MP3 player.
