Introduction
I won't be adding any devices to my server, so I don't have DEVFS or UDEV installed. Upon boot, it nags me about this, and pauses for 15 seconds. To cut down boot time, I suggest the following:
I found, inside /etc/conf.d/rc:
| File: /etc/conf.d/rc |
# Use this variable to control the /dev management behavior. # auto - let the scripts figure out what's best at boot # devfs - use devfs (requires sys-fs/devfsd) # udev - use udev (requires sys-fs/udev) # static - let the user manage /dev RC_DEVICES="auto" |
Changing RC_DEVICES to "static" will make it stop nagging you, and boot without pausing for 15 seconds. --User:petlab 21:47, 24 Mar 2005 (GMT)
